Water-based adhesive ideal for porous materials. Dries clear, non-toxic, easy cleanup. Handling time 30–60 minutes; full cure ~24 hours. Not suitable for plastics, metals, or sealed surfaces.

PVA stands for polyvinyl acetate — the white, runny glue most people used at school. It’s water-based, non-toxic, and cleans up with a damp cloth. PVA works by soaking into porous surfaces like wood, card, and paper, then hardening as the water evaporates. This means it’s excellent on anything absorbent but poor on plastics, metals, or anything with a sealed surface.

In model making, PVA is the go-to for card and foam board construction — particularly architectural models. It dries clear, won’t warp thin materials (if used sparingly), and gives you time to reposition before it sets. Expect an initial grab in 10–30 minutes, handling strength in 30–60 minutes, and full cure in around 24 hours. Clamp or weight joints where possible.
