About this Course
The course encourages complete beginners or those with some previous experience to develop a broad-based set of essential skills, giving you the opportunity to develop a number of personal projects supported by a dedicated, knowledgeable and friendly industry professional who possesses many years of experience supporting like-minded students attending adult learner short courses at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB).
Taught by a specialist modelmaking tutor, students will explore the world of professional modelmaking, starting from basic architecture models, sculpting, moulding, casting and dioramas. During the course, students will have the time and opportunity to create their concept model(s) each week, as well as applying their new skills and abilities to larger, more ambitious projects between sessions.
You'll have the chance to experiment and work with a variety of standard and specialist materials used in the construction of models and be encouraged to use resins, silicones, plastics and polymer clays. The course tutor will guide you through set exercises each week, alongside demonstrations and presentations of prepared examples from sculpting, sets, architectural models and moulding figures to miniature landscapes. You'll be challenged to produce professional models working in a rewarding, fun and vibrant environment.
This course is ideal for those who are considering working within the specialist field of modelmaking as a career choice, transferring new skills to personal work/interests, and for those looking to study this subject at Higher Education level.
