About this Course

Our Architecture Foundation Year will give you a comprehensive understanding of design theory and history. This will help you understand how we have reached contemporary architecture.

You will explore the use of drawing and models to solve design problems. You'll be able to develop ideas through experimental and exploratory work.

You will put together a portfolio of work throughout the year to prepare for a final exhibition. This will also help you apply for entry into an accredited ARB/RIBA part 1 course in Architecture or a CIAT accredited course in Architectural Technology.

Your final project will give you the opportunity to apply everything you have learned to a simple architecture project. You'll demonstrate an understanding of architectural design, drawing and model making.

Once you've successfully completed your foundation year, you can progress onto our Architecture BSc (Hons) degree, You'll build on your knowledge in design, theory, history and building technology. You'll also learn about environmental challenges and low-carbon approaches. You’ll get the opportunity international architecture on our overseas visits.
