About this Course
Throughout the course, participants will gain hands-on experience in the essential techniques and processes used in professional prop making for the film and screen industries. Working with a range of industry-relevant materials and methods, participants will develop practical skills in mould making, casting, surface preparation, painting, and finishing, with a focus on creating convincing props suitable for use on camera.
The course explores the process of taking a prop from initial preparation through to the finished piece, introducing participants to silicone mould making and resin casting alongside the tools, materials, and workshop techniques commonly used within professional prop departments. Participants will also develop an understanding of how surface treatments, colour, texture, ageing, and detailing can transform a fabricated object into a believable screen prop.
