Led by founders, brothers Ian and Richard Abell and Alex Welch since 2004, from its studio, workshop and production facility in Greenwich, London, Based Upon is well known for its collaborative creative culture.
We're looking for a talented and motivated Artist & Designer Maker to join our established workshop team in Southeast London.
You'll be involved in hands-on making at every stage of the process — from concept development through to final finishing — contributing to unique, design-led projects that demand a strong eye for detail, creative thinking, and problem-solving ability.
Essential Interests, Experience & Skills:
- A strong interest in materials, making, and hands-on craftsmanship
- Experience working in a studio, workshop, or creative production environment
- A broad skillset across design and fabrication techniques — ideally including casting, finishing, or modelmaking
- High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- A proactive, open-minded, and solutions-focused approach
Standard working hours are 08.45am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Working location SE18
