Job Description
The Role
We are looking for a conscientious and enthusiastic Junior Scenic Painter to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with the preparation, painting, finishing, installation, and maintenance of scenic elements both in the workshop and on-site.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop scenic painting skills across a variety of creative projects, including visitor attractions, brand centres, retail environments, film & TV. You will gain hands-on experience on projects ranging from finely crafted miniature sets to large-scale themed interiors, building the practical skills and versatility to work confidently at all scales.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, filling, masking, and priming.
Apply paints, stains, coatings, textures, and decorative finishes to a high standard.
Work predominantly from our Bristol workshop, with occasional site work in the UK and abroad
Support senior painters and fabrication teams to complete projects to a high standard and within agreed timescales
Assist the Head of Paint with maintaining painting equipment, kit, and materials, and keeping the workspace clean, organised, and safe.
Follow all site health and safety requirements.
Assist with loading, unloading, packing, and handling painted elements both on site and in the workshop.
Essential Requirements:
A background in scenic painting or a related creative field, gained through training or practical experience.
Ability to colour match.
Excellent attention to detail and quality standards.
Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to follow instruction closely.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual work.
Professional and safety-conscious.
Ability to work with scenic paints, coatings and products which may contain solvents and other substances requiring appropriate PPE.
Flexible approach to duties.
Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours when project schedules require (abroad and in the UK)
Desirable Skills & Experience:
Knowledge of decorative paint effects and specialist finishes.
Experience in artwork finishes for exhibitions, themed environments, fit-out, construction finishing, or related industries.
Site installation experience.
Full UK driving licence.
