Job Description
Technical Project Manager
About MDM Props
MDM Props delivers bespoke fabrication, themed environments and immersive experiences for clients across entertainment, attractions, events and commercial sectors.
We're looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the fabrication and technical delivery of complex projects.
Working alongside a Creative Project Manager, you'll be responsible for turning approved concepts into exceptional finished builds.
The Role
You'll lead workshop production, fabrication planning, technical coordination and installation, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
You'll work closely with draughting, workshop managers, subcontractors and production teams to coordinate every stage of delivery.
Every project at MDM Props is jointly led by a Technical and Creative Project Manager. While the Creative Project Manager leads the client relationship, creative development and commercial delivery, you'll take ownership of technical planning, fabrication, workshop production and installation. You'll work as an equal partner throughout the project, combining technical expertise with creative ambition to deliver exceptional results.
What You'll Be Doing
• Develop fabrication strategies and production plans
• Lead workshop and production teams
• Build and manage production schedules
• Coordinate drawings, CNC files and technical documentation

• Ensure quality, safety and programme compliance
• Support project close-out and continuous improvement
About You
You'll ideally have 8+ years' experience working within a set-building, scenic construction or creative fabrication company where design and fabrication are delivered in-house. This means you'll have first-hand experience of taking projects from approved designs through fabrication and installation, and be confident leading workshop teams while balancing quality, programme and practical build considerations.
You'll likely come from industries such as:
• Scenic construction
• Exhibition build
• Joinery or specialist manufacturing
• Themed attractions
• Film and TV production
• Shopfitting
• Specialist fabrication
• Engineering or bespoke manufacturing
You'll also bring:

• Excellent knowledge of fabrication and production processes
• Workshop or manufacturing leadership experience
• Budget and cost control expertise
• Strong planning and scheduling skills
• Excellent communication and team leadership abilities
• A practical, solutions-focused approach
Why Join MDM Props?
This is an opportunity to lead technically challenging, highly creative projects alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Location & commitments
• Based at MDM Props workshop in Greenwich
• Freelance – 40 hours standard
• Hourly rate
• Mon-Fri standard
• Occasional site, night work, and additional hours may be required
