Being quite experienced in mould making, I knew that producing a clean and strong mould was essential for a model of this type, as there would be little to no paint on top to hide any mould or casting defects.
I spent a long time getting this right and significantly increased my knowledge of mould making. I had used this technique before, it means I can now create moulds to a higher standard, with very few air bubbles and good reusability.
This project was genuinely a lot of fun, partly because of working on such a beautiful building, but also because HOLT were so easy and supportive to work with. This made the process smooth, and through good communication from both sides, we created a model everyone liked.

silicone casting, hair punching, IPA painting, and working with miniature fabrics.
Although I enjoyed learning and developing these techniques, I feel that some of them,
particularly hair punching and clothing, are the weakest parts of the final model.
The reason I did this is I love to learn, I had other options or projects that I have done similar versions of before but I wanted to try new things and not stay in my comfort zone. I may have bitten off more than I could chew but I don't mind at all as the new techniques I have learned have made me a much better modelmaker than sticking to what I know.
This project has a very wide range of skills and materials so I will listen them for you now.
Skills; Silicone casting, silicone painting, injection moulding, hair punching, miniature dress making, miniature figurative sculpting, CAD skills, hand skills, resin pours, painting, wood work.

Next was moulding and casting using simple block moulds. Then came the tricky part: adding the fur. I went about it as if I were making clothes for him, creating skin-tight templates which I then cut out of the fur and glued using contact adhesive.
The final touch was flocking the face to maintain his expression. This went through a lot of trial and error, but eventually I was able to blend it with the rest of the hair.
