Ben Taggart studied Graphic Design and Film making at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art from 1987 to 1990, specialising in model animation, prior to that he had attended a Foundation course at the Central School of Art & Design. On graduation he worked as assistant to the sculptor and production designer Gerry Judah for two years, as designer and model maker with clients including BBC Presentation Graphics and a host of advertising agencies. In the mid-1990s Ben worked freelance for a wide range of companies from architects to theatre designers before starting his own business.
Ben Taggart Modelmaking & Design was founded in September 1994 specialising in the construction of models of listed buildings, historic reconstruction and heritage projects. Other work over the years has included architectural drawing, archaeological scale drawing, design and planning, graphic design, concept sculpture design and research into historic houses.
Ben has given talks about his career at Nonsuch Palace Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum, online during the pandemic for Wallingford Museum, and in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. With over 650 projects completed to date, and a following on Instagram of over 50,000, he has gained a unique reputation.
