Latex Mask Making

Something new for next year!

Mangostone is going to be running some short courses in 2026, which would be a chance for individuals to receive training and learn some skills from some highly experienced, talented and friendly industry professionals.
These courses would be an opportunity for fledgling professionals to expand their portfolio, as well as anyone else who was keen to learn new skills.

The first of these courses will be LATEX MASK MAKING and will run for 5 days from 26th-30th January 2026.
The course will be run by Matthew Healey, who is a world class industry professional sculptor, prop & model maker, so we have no doubt that you would gain a great deal of knowledge and confidence during this week.
Many of the techniques you will be taught (design, sculpting, mould making, casting and painting) are transferrable skills which can be applied to many other areas of prop making/prosthetics.
The course will be held at the Mangostone workshop and all materials and tools will be provided (although feel free to bring any of your own sculpting tools). You will receive a certificate to say you have completed the training at the end of the week, which can be referenced on your CV to aid future job applications- and of course you can take your mask home with you.

Following the Latex Mask Making short course, we are also planning to run some other courses. The topics we are considering are:

Soft prop making
Character design
Life drawing/Life sculpting
Intro to 3D printing
Sculpting techniques masterclass
Making a maquette
Prosthetic wound making workshop

And possibly more…

These courses will vary in length (1-5 days) and will range in price from around £200-£750, depending on the course content, materials provided and length.
