About this Course
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Step into the world of traditional woodworking and learn the essential hand tool skills that have been the backbone of the craft for centuries. In this engaging one-day workshop, you'll create a practical plant pot holder from scratch while mastering the fundamental techniques used by woodworkers worldwide.
Under the guidance of experienced tutor Edward Shamwana, you'll learn how to:
Work safely and confidently with traditional hand tools.
Use measuring and marking tools including T-squares and marking gauges correctly.
Master sawing techniques with a tenon saw for precise cuts.
Plane wood surfaces to achieve smooth, professional finishes.
Create strong, traditional half lap joints.
Use a shooting board for perfect edge work.
Work with chisels and mallets to shape and refine your project.
Join pieces using dowels and glue for lasting strength.
Apply a beautiful linseed oil finish to protect and enhance your work.
This workshop focuses on building confidence with hand tools rather than power machinery, giving you skills you can practice at home with basic equipment. You'll leave with both a finished plant pot holder (complete with pot!) and the knowledge to continue your woodworking journey.
