About this Course

Course outline

Prosthetic makeup is the art of applying pieces of rubber to the face and body to help transform the actor fully into a character. Whether it be for simple wounds and injuries, replicating a historical figure, or creating an entirely new alien species, prosthetics are used widely in the film and television industry.

In this course you will learn the foundations in how to apply silicone prosthetics. You will learn what prosthetics are, the different ways they are used within makeup and within the film industry, and the key skills required to paint and apply simple silicone prosthetics safely and effectively for a film context.

Disclaimer: In this workshop we will be working with some blood and gore prosthetic looks and there will be real medical images used as reference. This workshop may not be suitable for the particularly squeamish.
