Job Description
Scale Models Weston is one of the UK's leading specialist model-making companies, producing museum-quality scale models for the superyacht, naval, commercial marine and exhibition sectors.
Our clients include internationally recognised yacht builders, naval architects, defence organisations and commercial marine companies. Every project is unique, challenging and built to an exceptional standard.
We're looking for an experienced craftsperson who takes pride in precision, enjoys solving technical challenges and wants to work on projects that are seen around the world.
What you'll be doing
- Producing high-quality scale models of superyachts, naval vessels, commercial ships and bespoke exhibition pieces.
- Working from drawings, CAD models and client briefs.
- Manufacturing components using traditional workshop techniques and modern fabrication methods.
- Spray painting, finishing and assembling models to exhibition-quality standards.
- Working with a wide range of materials including wood, plastics, metals, acrylics and composites.
- Collaborating with designers, engineers and project managers to deliver outstanding results.
- Taking ownership of projects from initial manufacture through to final delivery.
We're looking for someone with
- Around 3 years' experience in model making or a related role.
- Excellent practical workshop skills.
- A meticulous eye for detail and quality.
- Confidence using hand and power tools.
- Experience producing high-quality finished work.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Rhino 3D or similar CAD software.
- Laser cutting.
- 3D printing.
- Marine or exhibition model-making experience.
