Drawing from several different pieces from James Gurney I designed my FMP to show off as many skills as I could in one project. To do this the piece was designed in three major sections, the Dinosaur, the 'Saddle' and the Base.

The Dinosaur was hand sculpted then mold and cast in cold cast. Once out of the mold I airbrushed and hand painted the model. With a lot of the 'softer' edge making out of the way on the dinosaur I chose the pagoda design to show off more hard edge skills, first by mocking up the whole design true to size in CAD and creating jigs so that the pieces could be cut to be mostly held together by carpentry and tension similar to real pagodas which avoided using screws and nails in favor of complex joinery.

Skeleton of the Bridge was made using hollow MDF boxes and peg blocks, then slotted together and screwed in place. This was then clad in two long cast jesmonite panels and the several arches which were meshed together with more jesmonite and sanding.

The piece was designed by adapting the 'Littlest Pet Shop Teeniest Tinest' Playsets to the Winxclub IP. With both products targeting the same age group (Girls aged 7-9), I saw it as a prime opportunity to showcase my design and CAD skills in an industry relevant project.

I began by sketching a high volume of ideas digitally, before narrowing it down to a final set of designs and creating a final assembly drawing. After workshoping several layouts for the structures on and of the 'wings', I used a combination of Rhino7 and Fusion360 to model and test the complete toy assembly. With the Design Complete on CAD the separate pieces were SLA printed, sanded and finished before being sprayed and hand painted to achieve a show finish that could be presented at a pitch or convention.

Along with the physical model I created several show renders as well as shot a short 'sizzle' of the final model to show it off at a theoretical pitch.

Lego Friend : An anatomy model created for a children museum to display the major bones in a relatable and age appropriate way.

The model was designed to fit into a theoretical children's exhibition about the body and would be accompanied by a text panel identifying and explaining the function of each of the major bones pictured in the model. I chose to use an up scaled Lego friends doll to display the bones so that it would be more relatable to the indented audience by using a familiar character. This was inspired by similar exhibitions about medicine that had been put on at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis featuring the popular children tv character Doc McStuffins, in order to make medicine, surgery and getting shots less confronting to children.

The main 'body' of model itself was sculpted on Nomad and then printed in PLA, assembled and sprayed. The Bones were hand sculpting in miliput then sanded and sprayed.
