This model was made using a welded steel armature, wet clay sculpt, casted in fast cast with a two part silicone mould and painted with layers of acrylic.

2nd Model

Animals & Creatures Fantasy & Sci-Fi Exhibition & Display

Foam latex prosthetics of the hands and head of Guillermo Del Toro’s Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth.

This model was created using plaster life casts of my model's head and hands with a mix of chavant and wet clay. It has been moulded in both plaster and fibreglass. To cast, I used foam latex and the life casts as cores. The prosthetics have then been seamed using a mix of pro-aid and baby powder and painted using a mix of pro-aid and acrylic paint.

A welded steel armature with a ball joint and universal joint attached to make the model function as a puppet, similarly to the film. I then sculpted using wet clay and moulded it in fibreglass. To cast, I back-painted Plasti-Gel 10 into the mould and filled the inside with soft foam. After demoulding, I used Platsil gel 10, thickened with baby powder and watered down with white spirit, to paint and seam. The model also has working bladders for its heart and lung, as well as a 3D printed spine that I sourced an STL for online that can be manipulated. It sits on a wooden stand that has bronze trim and steel hooks to hold the model to the stand.

I specialise in character and creature sculpting at 1:1 scale, working mainly with clay, silicone, foam latex, resin and fibreglass. After graduating, I’d love to work in a creature shop or do exhibition work. I also have quite an interest in making medical models and museum work.
