A 1:1 Model of a Heron, Made from a wide range of materials. Intended as a marketing tool for a company to be able to show off a mascot that also involved all the and skills, techniques and services they offered as a company.

It is a deep case study on the anatomy of a Heron and compares each part of it to a material and or way of construction that shows off a larger sense of grace and magnificence. The overall design was inspired by the style of the Art Nouveau movement.

Built as a traditional Architectural concept model. This is a 1:12,500 scale model representing the Saudi Arabian mega project. Inspired by the concept art from their designers; the materials and composition seek to reflect the awe inspiring scale of this project.

The base is made from 3 plates of MDF that where then textured to represent the sea and ground. Electrics where then sandwiched in-between to send light up trough the laser cut and 3d printed structure to bring in some of the sparkle from the concept art.

Overall I wanted to portray the landscape and model in harmony and not necessarily detail. The project itself seems to have ben conceived with this as its aim, and so I wanted to make sure that was the focus of the material and compositional choices.

The Jukebox, Selector

A project made in conjunction with EPH Creative, to design and build an interactive prototype of a photobooth for a music festival. The Idea was to make an attraction and experience for those attending a festival to be a part of.

The first part of the model; A Jukebox section, which represented a scaled down end section of a full-scale Jukebox. Allowed me to test Construction, mechanics and materials on a prototype before building the full size version. It functions in conjunction with a smaller scale model of the actual stage which people would use at the festival. The two parts function together as a marketing or 'pitch' model to show off the function and feel of the final attraction. The two sections where connected and allowed the user to push one of 3 buttons which would lower and rase the selected album as well as display it onto the LCD of the stage to demonstrate how it would work in practice.

Working across the creative industry for many years striving to make, build, and create. From working on several projects for museums as a sole trader, to puppetry for production, training for a month at Foster and partners, and consulting as an R and D 3D printing technician at Trizo Ltd; I’m never happier than being hands on a task. I love problem solving and working on new projects alongside others helping to bring the best of people’s talent to a project. There’s always a new skill to learn.
