Architectural models showcasing the evolution of the shophouse in Penang, Malaysia. This exhibit features three shophouse facades at a 1:25 scale, and one white model at 1:50 scale showing the interior structure of the shophouses. The facades were made with a base of MDF, with added details made from a mixture of Acrylic Perspex, 3D printed PLA filament, and sculpted terracotta. Cellulose paint was used to colour the buildings and all its features.

For the brief set by Events Prop Hire (EPH), this model is a 1:10 scale replica of a knights chess piece that would be used for a table centrepiece at an Alice in Wonderland themed event. This model was made by sculpting the stylised head of a horse from air dry clay, which was then moulded with a two part jacket mould, and cast in resin fibreglass. The base of the chess piece was layered MDF cut on a band saw and sanded. It was given a final coat of deep marroon cellulose paint.

Consisting of three models, this project features a 1:1 scale replica of the Eohippus "Dawn Horse" front leg structure and a 1:1 scale replica of the Modern horse leg structure. The min featured model is an articulate anatomical model of the Eohippus leg structure, which will be used to demonstrate and educate viewers about the evolution of Horse leg anatomy. It demonstrates the way the leg bones interact with one another by using TPU filament running through all of the bones, allowing for limited movement and a "snap-back" effect to the model as it's handled. The individual bones of the Eohippus were digitally sculpted on Nomad Sculpt and printed using PLA filament and Resin printing, while the modern horse leg digital sculpts were sourced from a veterinary school page.

During my time on the Modelmaking course I have worked on Abstract & Heritage Architecture, Anatomy, and Sculpture. I work primarily with CAD such as Fusion360 and Nomad for laser cut & 3D printed elements, as well as classic hand skills with sculpture and painting. After graduation I'd like to go into either marketing, events, or heritage restoration.
